6'10 For The Women and The Waves Benefit

6'10 Pintail for the showing of the surf film The Women and The Waves at the Marjorie Luke Theater on thursday night (the 9th) at 7:00pm in SB.

Heal The Ocean is putting the benefit on, this board will be up for Raffle along with an Ashley Llody (Bing), and I believe a CI and a Matt Moore.

I heard I have to go up on stage to read the raffle ticket number for my board; that should be different...i love, love, LOVE. public speaking.

So anyways, be there and watch me mumble into a microphone, see a cool movie and maybe trade in a $5 raffle ticket for a new pintail!

G's 7'4

I didn't get a chance to take any photos of Graham's new 7'4 before we met up and got it into his hands, but I got the phone call I always wait for this morning; all kinds of excited with the new size (his previous was the 6'9 "Black Diamond")...

He wrote up a quick review and posted a few photos on his blog:

What Are Friends For

Yesterday was eventful, got Graham his new 7'4, hung out on the beach for a while, then got a ride to the hospital; all in all a pretty average day.

Thanks everyone for your help...From the small bits I do remember, I wouldn't have made it out of the water without all of your guys' help.

Note:  A doctor told me that if you ever get whacked in the head and can't get to a hospital quickly to tie your hair across the split/cut to keep it together and stop the bleeding...I thought I would pass the message along 'cause it sounded like a pretty good quick fix, and a useful tip.

#3 & Clean Water

Morg surprised me with some new photos from a few days ago...Lomo shot aboard the third board I shaped, which he now owns; Albers aboard my surf-mobile, and the ever-majestic face of the best hound in the world, Herbie.

We'll be down at the Clean Water Classic today at Rincon, its a fun contest so come down, hang out, say hi...look for Herbie, or the 11' spear; both should lead you to my hideout!

Rail Useage 110

If you've followed my blog for WAY too long, you may remember my post from last year, titled Rail Useage 101...heres this semester's lesson, taught by KL:

A quick screenshot from tuesday's surprisingly insane hull party ^

Humble Pie

A little story behind, and the first ride report of 'H':

I had Ice9 build me a custom blank (they don't make 11' blanks as of this moment), and went with two 1/2" cedar stringers for maximum wood-age...the blank hung out for a while until i sacked up and shaped it...many many thanks to my buys at Ice9 for all the help :)

I ended up with what im pretty sure is personally my biggest accomplishment; this board is truly special to me; 10' 11 1/4" x 23 1/2" x 3 1/4"...belly to light vee bottom, s-deck and pinchy rails...i'm about 149% sure it's a hull...and my first wave today proved it. i was humbled to say the least.

glide in, pop up, bottom turn...easy...
glide in, pop up, sink 10' of rail and eat poop...reality.

second wave: money!
didnt take me long to figure out what the board is best at...going balls out down the line as high as you can sit in the pocket.

I caught some SCREAMING head high waves today, i surfed with my breath held and very very light feet...my last wave even showed me a draining barrel on the inside sandbar, 10'11" pintails and barrels are made for eachother, and hurt like hell when you space out and forget exactly how much board there is beneath you.

tomorrow we're having a date with another fabled point up north...i couldn't be more excited...
