Vampires Like Gravel

Last saturday Greg Swanson came up from OC to snag his new Vampire hull on a somewhat breezy afternoon.  It happened to be shaped the same exact day that my personal Vampire got put under the planer, so they have a few striking similarities...here it is:

Shortly after he picked 'er up, I guided him and his posse to my favorite point, and we were greeted with not only shoulder highish waves, but only one fellow out...after hours of debate over the precarious situation, we went surfing.

surftastic photos from posse members Erica Burtrum and Alex Swanson.

Surf Lot Lessons

Hey, if the surf isn't that great...get the feeling however you want, wherever you want...this guy stoked me out like nobodies business after a less than memorable session!

Wanderings

That pretentious surf shop employee vibe is getting kindof old to me, wish people would lighten up and realize they've got it pretty good and just 'cause someone isn't wearing a flannel shirt and neon glasses doesn't mean they don't have something interesting to offer >>>>>>>>

Treat people with kindness and make no enemies.

5'2 Velosim

Alejandro's 5'2 velosim, heading down Mexico way...love this one's curves, I foiled the tail a bit more, and this one being extremely compact makes the curves really pop, I like it!

Sacredly Crafted

After an 11 hour day between the glass shop and the shaping bay yesterday, something rather interesting happened...

Bobby L's modified-for-beacbreak-dreadnought took it's final form...

and now for my announcement:

I will have a select few boards on display at the Sacred Craft show on April 10th & 11th, AND I'll be shaping out a 7' bladey hull for myself in one of the shaping bays at the show!

So please come by and check it out, you may just see me lop off one of my fingers in there, or learn some bad shaping habits, or hear Herbie howl along with my planer, or maybe watch me flail around trying to get the foam dust out of my eye, or just come and introduce yourself to me, I LOVE meeting people who have seen the blog...

Either way, come by, check this board out, I'm way stoked on it and there will be lots and lots of other good viewings if you find my boards visually offensive :)

5'5ing

Jordan's 5'5 t.rev (v2.0).  This second version of the t.rev is narrower, thinner and more foiled in the nose with a tad more rocker for the bigger days; the original version goes bonkers in anything from knee to shoulder head high, this one is meant to overlap the gap above that.

Lots of finished board pics coming in the next few days, 7' vampire hull, 6'9 dreadnought, 5'3 gullet, 5'2 velosim, 9'6 d.bowls etc etc etc...... :)

thanks for keeping me so busy, everyone!!!

4'11 Default with Lakey

My default name for anything that is abnormal is the nug.  or super nug.  or shred sled....here is NSSA wonderchild/twice champ and new PC friend, Lakey Peterson, shaping a 4'11 that resembled a bar of soap;

We shaped a 5'3 gullet together on Sunday, and she came back for more on monday!
ambitious, and doesn't seem to mind foam dust:

Velosim for the most part, save for the fishy kinda tail.

She's got a future in shaping if she wants it, check out the autograph...super pro:

And did I mention she's only 15?  and shreds...like...seriously shreds...

Mondayschizm

Josh Farberow brought by his new finless craft for Raphael and I to give the Timberline treatment to, he's been shaping and riding these a lot lately and wanted to see if we couldn't add some wood to it!
