Spencer Lyon on one of his creations...A lot of people have asked me for a while why I haven't gotten into alaias; I've been waiting to do it the right way, with someone who has put in the time and effort that I couldn't.
Two new boards located at Wetsand Surf Shop in Ventura now...
This purple-hazey AsymmetricHull
and this supernuggety little 6'3" hullstub...hull to big single concave out the tail; lots of drive and tons of acceleration for big carves.
Chuck and crew down there do an insane job of spreading PCpelican stoke around the area...Boards seem to go through there like nobodies business so go check these out if you feel the urge!
A rainy, cold, flat day like today seems like the perfect time to unveil the most stoke-generating shape I've put together in a whiiiiile........
6'5" x 20" x 2 3/4" of foam, widepoint forward and a drawn out, narrow tail...triplane nose and mid section to keep the hull rail line but add some looseness and slip, then exiting with a double concave to spiral vee. Low all-around rocker with a slight flip in the nose and pinched-down rails that are a bit larger in radius than usual in order to slow the thing down a little.
This puppy is shaped for solid drops and heavy tubes around the SB area; What I wanted to shape was a really good solid-wave board that could be used on small days but had all the right ingredients for the big stuff also.
I'm gonna make Connor and Trevor and I one for deeper water excursions.
Kabir sent me these after he flew over the shop the other day...occasionally he'll take to the skies from up on the mountains, cruise down over the boatyard and then call me. We always do the standard ooooh look there he is, and then a few hours later I get pictures in my email like this one...man...cool place to live.
On a side note, check out the new SB Independant for Travers' cover story/journal chronicling the first few days of swell here in town with Kyle, Will and everyone! Sweet shot of Albers on the she hull in there, also!
Its a very comforting thing to know that everything you do, all the time you spend toiling and covered in shit is all to allow you the freedom to live your passions and explore the things that unfold in front of you daily.
we've all got different ways of going about it and some conflict, relax and sink into your own existence and watch everything but what you love fade away.
