Yearly Europe and East Coast Vision Quest

The weekend countdown begins, I'm off on monday to shape in Biarritz, France at Blend glassing to meet up with some old friends and make a whole lot of new ones in the process. Shaping in Europe is always a blast. Sharing tips, tricks, templates and tubes always makes me happy!

If you're interested in a custom board while I'm over there email Rui (magicquiver@gmail.com) or myself (ryankentlovelace@gmail.com) and we'll have the answers to your questions. I'll only be there a couple of weeks so the sooner the better, if you want one jump on board quick :)

and THEN...

I'll be stopping off in New Jersey to visit Phil at Glide Surf Shop on the way back home and shaping there for a couple of days also. So that means YOU, eastcoasters...Shoot me an email if you wanna chat about a custom board, I'd be honored to fulfill your surfiest desires!

Some Changes of Note

Hey erryone!

I wanted to send out a quick thank you for all of the support on the new site; it's been noted that the pelican is missing in action and I thought I'd take this chance to clarify a couple of things.

After starting, running and shaping Point Concept Surfboards for the past few years, I've decided to move on and move out from under an official "brand". My growth within and around the realm of surfcraft building is still and will always be in-progress and I feel as though it's time for me to move along. The company was being directed in ways that I didn't agree with; machine shaping, hiring finish shapers, and then outsourcing the entirety of the glassing is not and never was my direction with my work and when it comes down to it, I can't chose to lead my life by that example.

I love and loved Point Concept, it's my (short) life's work and is my pride and joy alongside each physical surfboard that I have the privilege to build, the choice to part with it was not easy or in haste and has been months in process.

I've been getting a lot of emails the past few days about the changes and am glad that everyone is so stoked on it, it feels like a bit of a gamble but surfboards are and always will be what it's about...and I do still know how to build those :)

Carbon Lump Experiments Cont.

A little experiment with the v.bowls template/concept, morphed into a shortboard foil and bonzer 5 fin setup:

The deck borrowed knowledge from the Stage III experiment last year; creating a stiffer nose and tail and weakening the middle to create torsion and twist, as opposed to lengthwise bending:

I glassed 3" carbon strips along the curves of the deck to give the shape/pattern some direction and control, also a bit of snap:

Bevis

Really diggin' this shot of Travers and his Pickle from Kyle Albers, who's birthday git-down was off the ultra-vibe charts.
Happy Birthday weekends, sukka!!
