PC Pilgrimage: OZ

Welp, the tickets have been purchased and I'm off to Australia for March!

We're coming through the Alley Fish Fry on the 6th, and I'll be talking a little the evening before at the meet 'n greet and then taking to the streets to find some new friends and new waves for a couple weeks.

I'll only be shaping custom boards on the trip, so if you want one now would be the time to email either myself or Ben at Six Ounce Board Store (ben@sixounceboardstore.com.au).

Rotule Downhillin'

On a 100% chance encounter via a website called couchsurfing.com and a few friendly neighborhood friends of mine, we met a crew of like-minded builders, who are downhill longboarders. They have a DH skate company in Quebec, Canada and are on a road trip from there, across the US to San Diego and all the way back, around the edges and through the middle of the country to sample America's finest in curvy and steep stretches of pavement.

RotuleLongboards.com is their site, we got to take them into the mountains yesterday to have a little go at some turns that had stuck in our minds as particularly intense on a recent drive north...Much more to come, Kent and I shot for 4 hours plus, but here's a small sample from the day.

These guys were charging full slides at 40mph...

We drove behind them down the mountain for this last one.

I have a new friend...his name is Alex Antebi, and he is f*ing outrageous.

4'11" for Lakey

Lakey Peterson's shaped this with me, her new little shred sled!

4'11" x 22" x 2 5'8"

After we made her Gullet, she wanted to learn to shape a little bit so we made this together the next day, I took care of the heavy planer work and she was in charge of the block sanding and screening...stoked on the finished product :)

We decided to add a crack in the tail to free it up a little bit, she's an insane surfer and I didn't want the board to be too sticky for her; also took my normal Velosim fin template, nicked the back off of it and a little leading edge also, then cut the base away...this thing oughtta be pretty fun for her!

Belly to triplane bottom that exits off the outer edges of the fins, with a heavy single concave through the middle...epic.

4'11 Default with Lakey

My default name for anything that is abnormal is the nug.  or super nug.  or shred sled....here is NSSA wonderchild/twice champ and new PC friend, Lakey Peterson, shaping a 4'11 that resembled a bar of soap; 

We shaped a 5'3 gullet together on Sunday, and she came back for more on monday!

ambitious, and doesn't seem to mind foam dust:

Velosim for the most part, save for the fishy kinda tail.

She's got a future in shaping if she wants it, check out the autograph...super pro:
