Praises To They

Its Travers week apparently!
His extremely photographically talented brother, mr.Will Adler, sent me over a clip of Travers this week on the v.bowls so I pulled this frame grab from it which makes me very happy. Travers exudes a stoke and enthusiasm that, so far in my life, is unmatched and serves as a healthy reminder to get amped. The sensibilities and subtleness in Will's work shows Travers' style, attitude and weirdness at it's purest. Seeing what comes from these two's adventures together is one of my greatest joys in my present life and I get all kinds of giddy when I see a note from Will containing the goods!

Praises to the brothers Adler, I'm glad that Morgan's video this week gave the surf world a little injection of happiness and stoke!

Travers!

Mr.Travers Adler, making the world fall in love with him, shot and edited by one Morgan Maassen. You can also catch a whiff of his stylings in the neat little header on this very blog. More very tasty Travers treats coming soon!

Travers Adler || 7' Hullibut framegrab

I'm sitting on a ridiculous mound of shred-clips from the past three weeks...Trevor Gordon, Jimmy Gamboa, Kelly Slater, Travers Adler, Branden Aroyan, Connor Lyon, Danny Bravler, Kyle Albers, Richard Kenvin and some more I might be forgetting.

I need some musical inspiration to start really editing the clips; hopefully I find it soon so I can stop spoiling it with the framegrabs I've taken off of it.

Today's the Day!

I'm off on shaping/travel duty today, I'll be touring the North-East coast of Australia until April, holding down the fort in Byron Bay and Noosa; I've got a Rabbit's Foot with me as well as a v.Bowls and a few other funky machines for the journey! STOKING!!!!!!

Above we have Trevor Gordon and his 16 year old brotha' Spencer, plus Will and Travers Adler making for a whole bunch of shred.
There's a bit of Rabbits Footing, v.Bowlsing, ThrougHulling, and Travers putting it down on a White Owl.

Dreaming Of __________

currently floating around the Noosa festival, Australia is just as I left it; perfect.

Sorry for the lack of blog postage, internet powers are lacking and require more effort than I feel like exerting on my vacation leg of this adventure ;)

Staying with a pile of radical individuals. the enthusiasm for surf and culture is electric, watching Children of the Sun nightly with Matty Chojnacki is making me want to shape some involvement boards reeeeeeeeeal badly!

In the meantime, Morgan has thrown up a rather epical video of back home and it's got me all excited to surf good waves, though Noosa hasn't offered too much so far I'm hoping next week will bring the goods! Check Trevor and Travers' shred...sooooooooo rad!!!

Good Day!

I'm gonna go work on my bottom turn because Travers Adler's makes us all look real, real bad [on his first over chest-high surf with the 7'9 v.Bowls I lent him...FML].

Will Adler shot this particular one, and it's been anting my desktop for months now. Seriously, this is what I consider the most beautiful surfer setup/photog capture I've seen in recent memory. I'm absolutely floored every time I look at it.

Thank you good brothers, for making me a proud man!

Water Lines

Kew has been sending me LOADS of video so far this fall, he's gone bananas filming lately so frame-grabs are plentiful, above is Trevor accelerating back into the pocket on the througHull, I had to chose from 6 different grabs of the same textbook turn; Trevor has got this board DOWN and rides it like an extension of his superhuman feet. Call me stoked.

I often find myself looking at the water trails in pictures and video more than the surfer, it tells me what my boards are doing and how it's interacting with each section of the wave and how it reacts to each surfer's stance/style. Below is Connor on the 7'9 v.Bowls that I lent to Travers, all of the boards that show up are pretty much communal when they hit the sand so everyone usually gets good waves on most every board...Here's CJ Soloman locked in and working on his double arm stall..

Lastly, Kew sent me this one of myself locked into a little pocket, not much for water trails and research but man...that was a fun one :)

Trailer Time!

One of the previously mentioned projects, coming along quite well :)

You knew it would happen eventually.
Almost Cut My Hair is a zero budget surf film containing approximately 96% pure surfing coupled with a sound track worth listening to...the only catch being everyone involved is riding a surfboard that I built. If you can get past that last bit, I think you'll get a pretty killer show.
Over the past few years of meeting and working with countless creative individuals, I've made them boards and they've in turn shared their talents with me; I've piled it all together in what is my ultimate surf movie. ACMH is essentially the past few years of my work, set to some serious jams.
It makes me very happy and I hope it does you the same to you in the Spring of this year.
Containing the musical and/or surfical talents of:
Travers Adler, Trevor Gordon, Landon Smith, Will Adler, Morgan Maassen, Troy Mothershead, Ryan Lovelace, Johnny McCann, Michael Kew, Phil Browne, Joseph Horswell, Washmen and the Fisher, Simon Murdoch, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Connor Lyon and piles more...

Midlength Madness

I've been all about midlengths for a few years now and it's been a little quest of mine (amongst too many others) to nail a couple of designs that just plain stoke people out every time they ride 'em.

Midlengths are tricky business and I finally feel like I've nailed two designs pretty hard...One for juicier waves, and one for head high and under days, both get my blood going just thinking about the lines they've been drawing recently...a really smooth mix of powerful flow, glide and some deep carves to top it off.

Call me stoked.

Here's Travers Adler showing us how it's done on v.Bowls...Step 1, the planning:

step 2, the execution:

step 3, rejoice:

For me, the coolest thing about these is that everyone who snags a few waves handles them with some serious conviction right off the bat...heres Connor getting finding some time in the slot on the same board:

...shape it and they will trim. Greg Swanson poised for success on Silky Love:

red fin for the win.
