Video Fridays!
Its friday, I got a new back brace for shaping, and Branden Aroyan just put his clip from the Sacred Craft's little film festivities up online, which happens to have a few shots of me shaping him a Timberline nugget, and the Travers Adler gettin' down with it...and then, to top it off, a little Jimmy Gamboa SHREDDING on an old 8'6" (if i remember correctly from our chat that morning) Liddle...super fun clip to watch, hang out for a few minutes and enjoy!

Friends Are Fun
Surfed with a few friends today and the new mini-vid camera...got some interesting screen grabs, nothing fantastic, but documenting fun times is always nice :)
Got my first session on the Tiberline hull that I shaped, and gave Steve a run on it as well (last pic). So far SOOOOOOO good on it, super fast and slippery and locks into trim...cutbacks were effortless and full railed when you've got the shoulder to put one down! Couldn't be much happier, and I will DEFINITELY be making some new EPS hulls after feeling the response on this thing...check how CLEEEEEEAN she flows:
Seemingly Surrounded
by endless dust.
I need to run.

TWOFER TEWDAY!
Hey, i've got too much good blog material today...so check it!
I've finally got the english translation that my (fantastic and wonderfully helpful) sister in law did of my Blue Magazine (Japan) article in an online format, give it a read. originally written and photographed by the fantastic Mr.Tomita!
and THEN!
I made a short video walkthrough of a hull that I just shaped, I don't think still photos do these boards justice so I thought I'd have a go at it with video. It took me three takes to not sound like a total asshat:

I'm also knee deep in building a new spoon mold, i've made a small update to the swaylocks thread:
Been busier than ever the past two weeks in life and in "work" (I still have a hard time calling shaping "work"), shaping 2-3 boards a day. I truly apologize if I'm slow on my email responses, I'll get back into prime e-mail form shortly!!!

Glidezilla
Here is Mr.T with the big hunk of foam I just shaped for him. He will be taking it to his favorite surf spots, and subsequently dropping a glide-bomb all over the faces of his fellow surfers.
It measures in at 11' x 23" x 3 1/4" and has thr33 stringers, observe:
It is extremely foiled out, and has very little rocker for a board of it's length...this is an 11' hull for all intents and purposes; it has the same rails as my current 7' blade.

LookaLogue Online!
My Dearest Everyone,
I am writing this, the fourteenth day of April in the year 2010, to inform you that the Point Concept LookaLogue is now viewable online in a spiffy page-turning format. The only action you must take to rest your eyes upon it's glory, is to click
Yours affectionately (but not in a creepy way),

Herbie is Pooped!
Wanted to put out a HUGE thank you to everyone who came out and supported the PC cause this weekend at Sacred Craft, I was floored to see so many people loving the boards and letting me know they check out the PCprog-blog religiously!
The show went off without a hitch, I shaped a 7' hull on saturday morning and gave it away later in the day to one very very lucky lady, Piper P. hundreds of people put in for it but only one was destined to hold the holy blade in her possession at the end of the day!
I'll post some photos and videos from the weekend asap, but right now I'm going into serious recovery mode, I haven't been this exhausted in months...time to go hide in my shaping bay for the week and make some more hully sleds that go like Alex Swanson's:

LookaLogue
Part catalogue, part lookbook, I'm sure there's a trendy name for it already but I just don't know it...so it's a Look-a-Logue.
Back < - > Cover
and here's a random page from 'er for you guys, too...I'm gonna be mailing these out to bunches of surfshops as counter decoration (ie: Wetsand, Shelter, Mollusks's's', SurfySurfy, and Corduroy back east, etc.) ...and I'll bring some to the big show this weekend:
I want to put out a HUGE thanks to my good friends, and especially Morgan Maassen for the multitude of photographs compiled from over the years...what's in here is a culmination of my past 4 years of play, countless of hours in the shop, and documentation of the shapes and designs that have come from it. and, of course, my good friends surfing them on their miscellaneous adventures!

4'11" for Lakey
Lakey Peterson's shaped this with me, her new little shred sled!
4'11" x 22" x 2 5'8"
After we made her Gullet, she wanted to learn to shape a little bit so we made this together the next day, I took care of the heavy planer work and she was in charge of the block sanding and screening...stoked on the finished product :)
We decided to add a crack in the tail to free it up a little bit, she's an insane surfer and I didn't want the board to be too sticky for her; also took my normal Velosim fin template, nicked the back off of it and a little leading edge also, then cut the base away...this thing oughtta be pretty fun for her!
Belly to triplane bottom that exits off the outer edges of the fins, with a heavy single concave through the middle...epic.

Leo Logs
Leo picked up his 9'4 on friday...check it!
9'4" x 23" x 3 1/8", d.Bowls-esque template with a wide diamond tail and more foiled nose and tail:
Poplar halves with 10 layers of black pigmented fiberglass stacked down the middle...20x stronger than any glass bead on the block.
Belly through the whole board, nose to tail. 50/50 rails with a slight pinch and a long, low rocker curve for super glideability...

On the Gogo
Got a quick surf in last night...but sitting in LAX right now...hoping for a better smell to grace the airspace around me...this is rough, a deadly mix of fast foods of all types, sweaty people and stale air...but I have a feeling it will smell much nicer where I'm going...

Just Say Yeah
I'm pretty sure the conversation we had today out front will go down in history in the awkward category. I enjoy it very much when everyone comes out to the shop and hangs out for a bit, slows down work but I'm pretty sure these are the good 'ol days so I'm not too worried.
